Field Assignment Essays
Field Assignment Essays Field Assignment Essay Field Assignment Essay Essay Topic: In Cold Blood Field Assignment David Soloman, a very intelligent and respected young man, attended court for reasons in which he can never imagine. Murder was a charge involved in his case, yet he still couldnt come to think that it ever happened. His family, including his grandparents were, all killed in a home invasion in which the suspects took all the valuable belongings. Upon coming home from school, he noticed loud cries for help coming from his home. He entered his house and was immediately struck on the held ith and unknown object causing him to fall and come in and out of consciousness. He later woke up to see his whole family murdered in cold blood. Thats not even the sad part. As weeks went by he would here from people he knew that he possibly could know who and where the people that committed this crime can be. He was warned that he should take matters in to his own hands, yet he believe that he should be the one to avenge his family. Local authorities urged that he let them sort things out in a lawful manner. : However, Soloman didnt believe in true Justice anymore and went about with what he thought needed to be done. The investigators of crimes such as this one make extreme crimes like these very difficult to get away from. By this I mean that the culprits will have a very hard time getting away from the law. The investigative aspect of this case proved to be a great presence because not only were they able to catch Solomon from doing the unthinkable and ruining his life, but also were also able to figure out each and every suspect and the exact locations. Handguns, blood, and even DNA left on the lifeless body of his mother, whom was raped, were some of the crucial pieces of evidence that were brought to the court room. The home was closed of during the duration of the evidence mainly being because the condition that it was left in made it nearly unlivable for a student. Another very important piece of the evidence portion was one of the suspects whom gave the names of everyone involved to mainly receive a lighter sentence but to my urprise keep a clean conscience. He gave everything from where they planned the crime to even where they purchased their arsenal of weapons making the Job for the investigators a lot easier because he was confirming and correcting everything they had already found. It didnt look so good for the defense because all they had to actually defend themselves with was the death of one of the suspects in the home during the invasion, which they claimed his murder to be in self-defense. Solomon idnt get true Justice in my eyes mainly because they given sentences straining from twenty-five and seventy-five to life. These sentences were all a combination of burglary, home invasion, rape, murder, and a few other charges I wasnt able to take note of. The case was cut short because the Defense asked for a continuance and was unable to attend the sentencing as well, but was given the details later. Compton Superior Court Solomon, David Murder, Rape, etc. 9:00 a. m. -12:00 p. m.

AP Psychology Practice Tests Complete Collection
AP Psychology Practice Tests Complete Collection SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Practice tests are some of the best review tools for AP Psychology. They'll give you insight into your areas of weakness and prepare you for the structure and content of the real test. In this article, Iââ¬â¢ll list all the official and unofficial practice tests available online and provide advice on how to use them to get a great score on the AP test. Official AP Psychology Practice Tests Itââ¬â¢s best to use official practice tests when preparing for the exam because you can be sure that the questions are faithful representations of what to expect on test day. Thereââ¬â¢s a limited supply of released official exams, but you should be able to get enough practice out of them (and you can still supplement with some unofficial tests if necessary, which Iââ¬â¢ll discuss in the next section). These two tests are pretty old, but there havenââ¬â¢t been any major changes to the exam since they were administered. Theyââ¬â¢re still valid as practice resources: 1994 Official Released AP Psychology Exam1999 Official Released AP Psychology Exam If youââ¬â¢re looking for a bit of extra free-response practice, you can try working on official free-response questions in isolation. Most of them also have accompanying answer keys to help you better understand what the graders are expecting: Official Free-Response Questions 2002-2016 (accessible with College Board account) Those are the only official practice tests I can legally link to, but you may be able to find additional tests online from other sources. Your teacher will also have access to practice testing materials that are not available to the general public. If youââ¬â¢re looking for more official AP tests, talk to your teacher and see if he or she can provide you with any extra resources. You must wear a nice blazer with a button up shirt when taking official AP practice tests. That's how the test knows that you're also official. If you wear sweatpants, it won't trust you with its secrets. Unofficial AP Psychology Practice Exams Unofficial practice tests can also be useful, although you shouldnââ¬â¢t rely on them completely. Theyââ¬â¢ll still test roughly the same content as the real test, but their questions may be phrased differently and have a slightly higher or lower difficulty level. Be sure to intersperse official practice tests with these unofficial ones in your studying. Barronââ¬â¢s Diagnostic Test This is a free diagnostic test from Barronââ¬â¢s. It has the same format as the real AP test, so there are 100 multiple-choice questions followed by two free-response questions. You can choose to take the test in practice mode (untimed) or timed mode depending on how comfortable you are with the material. The multiple-choice section is scored for you, and answers to free-response questions are available as well. This means that you wonââ¬â¢t have to put in quite as much legwork to see where your mistakes happened. One drawback to the online format is that you can't directly replicate the conditions of the AP test. It will probably take you less time to fill in your answers than it would on a pencil and paper test. Kaplan Practice Tests Here you can find practice quizzes that cover all the different topics in the course as well as two comprehensive 100-question practice tests. Again, you can only take the tests online, so you wonââ¬â¢t necessarily get as much out of the experience. There also arenââ¬â¢t any free-response questions, so youââ¬â¢ll have to look elsewhere (preferably the College Board website) if you want to practice them. Shmoop Practice Tests (accessible with free trial) Shmoop has a diagnostic test and two full-length practice examsthat mimic the content and format of the real AP test (free-response section included). You have to pay for an account eventually, but you can start off with a free trial and cancel before the first payment is due if you want. The rate for a student account is $24.68 a month. REA Online Practice Exam ($4.95) This is just one practice test, but it includes automatic scoring, and it analyzes your mistakes for you. The test is also timed, so testing conditions are replicated relatively accurately (minus the fact that itââ¬â¢s on the computer). How to Review With AP Psychology Practice Tests Practice tests can be used throughout the school year and in your final review sessions for the AP test. They are the best way for you to judge how advanced you are in your knowledge of the material. Theyââ¬â¢ll also help you gain familiarity with the format of the AP test so that youââ¬â¢re not caught off-guard on test day. Hereââ¬â¢s some advice on how to use these tests in your studying at different points throughout the year: First Semester: In-Class Test Prep At this point, youââ¬â¢re just preparing for in-class tests and havenââ¬â¢t learned all the information for the course yet. You might decide to use practice sites that include focused questions on specific aspects of the curriculum, like this one. Still, the practice tests in this article may be helpful resources. You can sort through the free-response questions that were asked on previous administrations of the test to find ones that are relevant to what youââ¬â¢ve learned so far. Itââ¬â¢s a smart idea to practice free-response questions well ahead of time because they require the most independent knowledge. Most students have a tougher time on this section than on the multiple-choice section because you don't get a list of options that might jog your memory about a certain term or concept. Guessing isn't a viable option, so it's important to prepare thoroughly. Second Semester: AP Test Prep As you head into your second semester, start thinking about prepping for the AP test with full practice exams. You will have learned most of the material by the middle of the second semester, so you'll be able to use practice tests to judge your skills more accurately. I'd recommend taking your first full-length practice test sometime in March. Online tests can be helpful, but make sure you print out some practice tests too. This is the only way to see whether your time management is on point. When you take a practice test, make sure you treat it seriously so that you can learn from your mistakes. After you finish the test, score it and investigate your incorrect answers. There are several reasons why you might answer a question incorrectly. It could be due to poor time management, a careless mistake, or a lack of content knowledge. If one of the first two problems is the source of many of your mistakes, you probably need to take more practice tests to get used to the format while learning to read more carefully and pace yourself better. If your mistakes have more to do with content knowledge, you can narrow your focus further by categorizing your wrong answers by subject (consult the list of topics in this article). This way, you can primarily study parts of the course that you struggle with and avoid wasting time on concepts you already understand. Once youââ¬â¢ve identified your mistakes on the practice test and taken steps to correct them, take another test to check your progress. Again, make sure you take this test with the same time limits as the real AP test. After you take the second test, repeat the steps of scoring it and looking through your mistakes. Continue this process until you feel fully prepared for the exam. It may be productive to practice free-response questions in isolation between full practice tests if you struggle with that section. The more familiar you are with the way free-response questions are asked and what graders expect, the more likely you are to ace the free-response section on the real test in May. These questions will also help reinforce your understanding of psychological terms because they often ask you to apply terms to a hypothetical real-life scenario. Keep working out your test-taking muscles until your brain looks like this dude. Essential AP Psychology Practice Testing Tips In this section, I'll list a few tips that are important to remember while using practice tests to review for AP Psychology. #1: Always Time Yourself I said it before, and Iââ¬â¢ll say it again: If you want to assess your weak spots accurately, you need to time yourself as though you're taking the real test. You donââ¬â¢t want time pressure to be your downfall after working your butt off to memorize all the content. If you can get a parent, sibling, or friend who doesnââ¬â¢t have anything better to do for two hours to be a mock proctor for you, thatââ¬â¢s even better! #2: Donââ¬â¢t Overthink Itââ¬â¢s especially funny to list this tip for AP Psychology, but itââ¬â¢s also especially relevant to the way the questions are structured. Youââ¬â¢ll see quite a few questions that seem complex but are actually just a matter of common sense. Try not to second-guess yourself on these types of questions. The test isnââ¬â¢t trying to trick you! #3: Be Direct in the Free-Response Section When some students think about free-response questions, they imagine writing a five paragraph essay. You don't have to do that on this test! All the graders want are the correct answers written in complete sentences. Forget about intros, conclusions, or any other fluffy stuff youââ¬â¢re tempted to include. #4: Put More Faith in Official Test Scores Than Unofficial Ones Itââ¬â¢s tempting to believe that a high score on an unofficial test is valid, but it can get you into trouble. Keep in mind that some unofficial tests will be easier or harder than the real AP test because the questions weren't designed by the College Board. You should always include at least one official practice test in your studying so you can compare the difficulty levels and get an accurate reading on your progress. Some tests are LIARS! Conclusion Use the practice tests in this article as tools to bolster your prep for AP Psychology. Official tests and unofficial tests are both valuable resources, but pay more attention to your scores on official tests when judging your progress and skill level. Going over mistakes on practice tests will help you understand where your weaknesses lie and how you can fix them. If you take multiple practice tests, analyze your mistakes, and plan out your studying responsibly, you can expect high scores on the AP test and any in-class tests you take throughout the year. Accounting Treatments Required IAS for Financial Liabilities Term Paper
Accounting Treatments Required IAS for Financial Liabilities - Term Paper Example This is specifically the amortized cost or the fair value. Specific rules often apply to embed the hedging instruments and financial derivatives. IAS number 39 is applicable to monetary securities issued. Nonetheless, in case an issue of the contract of financial guarantee has earlier on stressed openly that it takes into consideration such agreements as a contract of insurance and has applied accounting that applies to insurance agreement; the issuer has an obligation to apply IAS 39 to such contracts of financial security. Accounting by the financial liability holder is not included from the dimension of IAS 39 as well as IFRS 4. Thus paragraphs 10-12 of IAS 8 ââ¬Å"Accounting policies, changes in accounting estimates and errorsâ⬠will apply. The commitments to financial liabilities fall outside the scope of IAS 39 in case their obligation cannot be fulfilled net a different financial instrument or in cash. In this case, they will not be classified financial liabilities at fair value via loss or profit hence the entity lacks the historical practice of selling the financial liability that came from the commitment after origination. An issuer of a financial liability or commitment to issue a financial liability at an interest rate below the market value is obliged to recognize the liability at its fair value. Successfully, the issuer of the financial liability will re-determine it at a much-increased value which is recognized under the IAS 39. Besides, the value originally realized will be less where relevant, cumulative payback is recognized in line with the IAS 18 (Penman, 2007; p. 35). According to IAS 32 on presentation of financial instruments which outlines the requirements for accounting for the presentation of the instruments, in particular, the grouping of such financial instruments into financial liabilities, equity and financial assets.

Week 3 discussion questions and summary Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Week 3 discussion questions and summary - Essay Example Strategic planning highlights its importance both for domestic and international markets. Although there are some differences between the strategic planning of the two but they are almost the same. The only major difference is that in an international market a business finds tougher competition and a more radical environment. Brand loyalty is less; customers look for better quality at cheaper rates, hence strategic planning for international market needs more research and critical thinking. Strategic planning should vary country to country it is important for a country to alter its strategic planning according to its customers. In the same way different countries should adopt different strategic planning. Another reason for varying strategic planning is the competition that prevails in the international market. Every firm is competing to be the best hence they keep an eye on the strategies of their competitors. Adaptation is an ongoing process that has been observed in the history and is still carrying on. An adaptation is a process in which every new aspect of a thing is taken up in order to peak its performance. Adaptation is applicable in international market in different scenarios for example the hand knitting method was replaced by the knitting machine that was more effective but a little less in quality at that time. The early adapters took the advantage and later a more advance machine updated the quality as well. Well adaptation can have different results depending on the scenario; diminishing returns can result due to adaptation. A perfect example is when the demand of a product is less and an organization adapts to a better technology resulting in excess production that in turn results in diminishing returns. But its not always this way, Adaptation if done with proper planning and strategy will always give positive results. Adaptation is a very important phase in a business and

Examining the Factors affecting Successful Strategic Management
Examining the Factors affecting Successful Strategic Management Todays an organization want to achieve success, they should consider all aspects for reaching the desired ends and how to avoid difficulties to help plan successful strategies. When an organisation has a strategy it enables them to ensure that decisions made on a day-to-day basis fit in with its long term interests. Strategies are also important as any decisions an organisation makes today can have a negative impact on its future results. A strategy will also help encourage employees, departments to work together to achieve common goals. In this essay I will concentrate on three schools, including design school, planning school and positioning schools. Furthermore, I will clarify some points in others schools of thought by particular looking at the overall, key issues and assumptions of this theory. According to Mintzberg, Ahlstrand, and Lampel (1998), they suggest that there are a lot of influential factors affect strategy. The schools will help organization to evaluate their macro and micro dynamics of a company. The first three schools that is design, planning and positioning schools of thought are prescriptive in nature. Those schools discuss how a strategy should be formulated. Accordingly, organization based on current situation and its environment to identify directions actions. The next six schools, entrepreneurial, cognitive, learning, power, cultural, and environmental are concerned with a specific aspect of strategy formation rather than prescribing an ideal strategic behaviour, it may be characterized as descriptive, emergent and subjective. Whereas, the configuration school alone constitutes the third group that integrates the various elements of strategy formation from all the previous schools mentioned. The first of the prescriptive schools is the Design school. The value of this strategy formation is that it seeks to establish a fit between an organizations strengths and weakness and its internal potential and external possibilities. This school also considers the role played by managerial values and social responsibility as important in the process of strategy making (Shekhar, 2009). Therefore, the CEO has a responsibility for a strategy formation. On the other hand, the strategy should be individualized, simple and explicit. According to his framework, a strategy formulated should be consistent in its goals as well as policies. Moreover, it must be adaptive to the changes in the organizations environment, provide and maintain competitive and should be feasible. The advantage of this type of school is that it forces consideration of external factors and will be more appropriate in organisation that needs reorientation. In the assignment 2, I will concentrate on how both internal a s well as external factors impact strategy of organization, and also according to this theory to provide some evaluation, selection, using SWOT analysis and Porters Five Force to descript how organization can fit between strength, weakness and the opportunities. The next school that I will discuss is a Planning school. It is a member of the prescriptive schools and a strategy formulation also mention as a formal process. The principal of this school has a separation between strategy formulation and strategy implementation. According to this school, strategy is a plan, a direction, a guide or a course of action into the future. The planning school consent with most of the premises in the Design school. However, the execution of strategy became formalized. The CEO takes the responsibility for the formulation of the whole process. By applying powerful analytic tools such as rigorous strategic planning methodologies, scenario analysis, managers can forecast the future of their business and can be accurately enough to let them to choose a suitable strategic direction. I will discuss these issues in the next assignment. The Positioning school also is part of the first group of schools. This school is different from other schools, it also known as an analytical process. In the positioning school, there are only a few key strategies or positions in the market place, which is economic and competitive, while there are no limits to strategies in some schools, for example the design and planning schools. The process focused more narrowly on calculation and on the close-ended selection of strategic positions than on the development of integrated and unusual strategic perspectives or on the specification of coordinated sets of plans (Marko, 2004). Strategies developed under this school are generic, specifically common, identifiable positions in the marketplace. In addition, when compared with other schools, it is less emphasis on political effects, including internal and external on the strategy formation in an organization. In the next assignment, I will focus on tools, methods such as BCG matrix, Michael Porters Generic Strategies, Profit Impact of Market Strategies and some other tools to clarify how to analysis and calculate in order to support the process of developing the strategy. In the next assignment, I will highlight some of the critical aspects of strategy formation in ten schools of through. In detail, the entrepreneurial school views strategy formation as a visionary process and visions can be set by a single or multiple founders of a company. The power school views strategy formation as a process of negotiation, the power refers to political power or the political relations surrounding an organization. The cognitive school views strategy formation as a mental process, it analyses how people perceive patterns and process information. The learning school views strategy formation as an emergent process of trial and error learning within an organization. The cultural school views strategy formation as a collective process, based on beliefs and understandings shared by the members of various groups and departments in organization. The environmental school views strategy formation as a reactive process, it described the relationship between particular dimens ions of the environment. Thereby reacting to the challenges imposed the external environment. According to configuration school, this strategy formation is seen as a process of transforming the organization from one state of decision-making structure into another. Mintzberg, Ahlstrand and Lampel (1998) stated the key to this strategy if for the organisation to recognise the need for the transformation, however to be able to do this without damaging the organisation. From this assignment I have learnt the importance of implementing strategic management into an organisation to gain competitive advantage. Applying Mintzbergs schools could help an organization about evaluation, development and transformation. Using the schools, organization can be able to identify their objectives, its strengths and weakness, to help expand on potential, developing on their opportunities and strengths. The key point to the schools is finding which strategy making technique best fits into an organisation, and developing further on it. Having successful achieving these goals, it will transform and give an organisation higher strategic competence. (1090 words)

The Hunters: Moonsong Chapter Fifteen
As she headed for the door of her dorm room, Elena rummaged through her bag, checking off a mental list: wallet, keys, phone, lip gloss, eyeliner, hairbrush, student ID. As she swung the door open, something fluttered to the ground. A perfect white daisy had fal en to the floor. Elena reached down and picked it up. Turning it in her hand, she felt a sudden sharp ache in her chest. God, I miss Stefan. She had no doubt the daisy was from him. It was just like him to let her know he was thinking of her while stil respecting her space. The ache in her chest was slowly replaced with a sweet glowing feeling. It seemed so sil y and artificial to avoid talking to Stefan. She loved him. And, beyond that, he was one of her best friends. Elena pul ed out her phone to cal him. And then she stopped. Taking a deep breath, she put the phone back into her bag. If she talked to Stefan, she would want to see him. If she saw him, she would want to touch him. If she touched him, it would al be over. She would find herself fal ing into him, entangled in love. And then she would look up and see Damon's dark unfathomable eyes watching them and feel that pul toward him. And then the brothers would look at each other, and love and pain and fury would pass over their faces, and everything would start up again. It had felt good to walk away from them for a while, even though it was heartbreaking and awful and terribly lonely, too. But, since then, Elena had felt a calm settle over her. She wasn't happy, exactly ââ¬â it was like she was covered with bruises, and if she wasn't careful, pain would flood over her as she remembered what she had done. But she also felt as if she had been holding her breath for weeks and now was able to exhale. She knew that Stefan would be waiting for her when she was ready to face him again. Wasn't that what the daisy meant? She tucked the flower inside her bag and set off down the hal , her heels clicking firmly. Elena was going to go out with her friends, she was going to have fun, and she wasn't going to think about Stefan, or Damon. Or even the disappearances, or Christopher's death. Elena sighed under the weight of it al . For days, they had been mourning, and now Elena and her friends needed to embrace life again. They deserved an evening of freedom. They needed to remember what they were fighting for. ââ¬Å"There she is,â⬠Elena heard Bonnie say as she entered the crowded bar. ââ¬Å"Elena! Over here!â⬠Bonnie, Meredith, and a girl Elena didn't know were sitting at a smal table near the dance floor. They had invited Matt to come out with them, but he'd said he had to study, his face politely closed off, and they knew he wasn't ready yet and that he needed some time alone. Meredith, graceful and relaxed, gave Elena a cool smile in greeting and introduced her friend Samantha. Samantha was lean, bright eyed, and alert. She seemed like she had energy to spare, shifting from side to side, chatting without stopping. Bonnie, too, was clearly on tonight and started talking as soon as Elena reached the table. Bonnie was brave, Elena thought. Christopher's death had shocked her, and she was as worried about Matt as any of them, but she would stick out her chin and smile and gossip and go on with life just as hard as she could, because they had decided that was what tonight would be about. ââ¬Å"I got you a Coke,â⬠Bonnie said. ââ¬Å"They carded me, so I couldn't get anything else. Guess what?â⬠She paused dramatical y. ââ¬Å"I cal ed Zander, and he said he'd definitely try to make it here tonight. I can't wait for you guys to meet him!â⬠Bonnie was practical y bouncing out of her seat with excitement, red curls flipping everywhere. ââ¬Å"Who's Zander?â⬠asked Samantha innocently. Meredith gave Elena a sly glance. ââ¬Å"You know, I'm not sure,â⬠she said with mock confusion. ââ¬Å"Bonnie, tel us about him.â⬠ââ¬Å"Yes,â⬠Elena added, smirking. ââ¬Å"I don't think you've mentioned him at al , have you?â⬠ââ¬Å"Shut up, you guys,â⬠Bonnie said amiably, and, leaning over the table to Samantha, started to extol al of Zander's virtues to her fresh audience. Elena let her mind wander. She'd heard it al , night after night in their dorm lately: Zander's eyes, Zander's smile, Zander's bashful charm, Zander's very hot bod (Bonnie's words). How Zander and Bonnie studied together in a tucked-away corner of the library and Zander brought Bonnie secret snacks even though it was totally against the library rules. The way they talked on the phone every night, the long velvety pauses when it seemed like Zander was on the verge of whispering something intimate, something no one but Bonnie could know, but then instead he would make a joke that made Bonnie laugh like crazy. There was something so sweet about Bonnie with a crush. Elena real y hoped this guy was worthy of her. ââ¬Å"He hasn't kissed me yet,â⬠Bonnie added, eyes wide. ââ¬Å"Soon, though. I hope.â⬠ââ¬Å"The very first kiss,â⬠Samantha said, and wiggled her eyebrows. ââ¬Å"Maybe tonight?â⬠Bonnie just giggled in response. That ache was back in Elena's chest, and she pressed her hand against her sternum. During her first kiss with Stefan, the world had fal en away and there had been just the two of them, lips and souls touching. Everything had seemed so clear then. She took a deep breath and wil ed away tears. She wasn't going to remember anything tonight; she was just going to have a good time with her friends. Having Samantha there, Elena soon realized, was going to be a huge help with that. If it had been just Elena, Meredith, and Bonnie, they would have ended up discussing Christopher's murder and the disappearances on campus, combing obsessively over the very few things they knew and theorizing about everything they didn't. But with Samantha there, they had to keep the conversation light. Somehow Bonnie got off the topic of wonderful Zander and on to palm reading. ââ¬Å"Look,â⬠she said to Samantha. ââ¬Å"See the line that crosses down your palm, across the other three lines? That's a fate line, not everybody has that.â⬠ââ¬Å"What does it mean?â⬠Samantha said, gazing at her own palm with great interest. ââ¬Å"Well,â⬠Bonnie said, her brow furrowing, ââ¬Å"it changes direction a lot ââ¬â see here? and here? ââ¬â which means that your destiny is going to change because of outside forces influencing you.â⬠ââ¬Å"Hmm,â⬠Samantha said. ââ¬Å"How about love? Wil I meet somebody amazing tonight?â⬠ââ¬Å"No,â⬠Bonnie said slowly, and her voice changed, taking on a flat, almost metal ic, tone. Elena glanced up quickly to see that Bonnie's pupils were dilated, her eyes looking away from Samantha's palm into the distance. ââ¬Å"Not tonight. But there's someone waiting for you who wil change everything. You'l meet him soon.â⬠ââ¬Å"Bonnie,â⬠Meredith said sharply. ââ¬Å"Are you okay?â⬠Bonnie blinked, and her eyes snapped back into focus. ââ¬Å"Of course,â⬠she said, sounding confused. ââ¬Å"What do you mean?â⬠Elena and Meredith exchanged a glance ââ¬â had Bonnie slipped into a vision? Before they could question her, a whole group of guys was suddenly at their table, laughing, shouting, swearing. Elena frowned up at them. ââ¬Å"Hey, gorgeous,â⬠one said, staring down at Elena. ââ¬Å"Wanna dance?â⬠Elena started to shake her head, but another of the guys dropped into the seat next to Bonnie and threw his arm around her. ââ¬Å"Hey,â⬠he said. ââ¬Å"Did you miss me?â⬠ââ¬Å"Zander!â⬠Bonnie exclaimed, her cheeks pink with delight. So this was Zander, Elena thought, and watched him covertly as his three friends settled at the table, too, introducing themselves cheerful y, seeming to make the maximum amount of noise dragging chairs over and jockeying to sit next to the girls. Zander was cute, sure, she had to admit that. Pale blond hair and a gorgeous smile. She didn't real y like the way he was pul ing Bonnie close, turning her head toward him, his hands running restlessly over her shoulders even as he talked over her head to his friends. It seemed real y possessive for a guy who hadn't even kissed her yet. Elena looked over at Meredith to see if she was thinking the same thing. Meredith was listening, with an amused smile, to the guy next to her ââ¬â Marcus, she thought his name was ââ¬â Zander's friend with the shaggy brown hair, explaining his weight-lifting routine. ââ¬Å"Shots,â⬠another friend of Zander's said succinctly, joining them with a tray ful of shot glasses. ââ¬Å"Let's play quarters.â⬠Bonnie giggled. ââ¬Å"They're not al owed to serve us here. We're underage.â⬠The guy grinned. ââ¬Å"S'alright. I paid for them, not you.â⬠ââ¬Å"Wanna dance?â⬠Spencer, the one who had asked Elena a minute before, said again, asking Samantha this time. ââ¬Å"Sure!â⬠she said, and jumped to her feet. The two were quickly lost in the crowd on the dance floor. ââ¬Å"God, I was so drunk last night,â⬠the guy next to Elena, Jared, said, tipping his chair back on two legs and regarding her cheerful y. His friend on his other side gazed at him for a minute, then poured a shot into his lap. ââ¬Å"Hey!â⬠In a moment, they were on their feet and shoving each other, the guy who had poured the drink laughing, Jared red-faced and angry. ââ¬Å"Knock it off, you guys,â⬠Zander said. ââ¬Å"I don't want to get kicked out of here, too.â⬠Too? Elena raised her eyebrows. This guy and his friends were definitely too wild for innocent little Bonnie. Elena looked at Meredith again for confirmation, but she was stil lost in jock world, now giving her opinion on the best weight training for martial arts. Bonnie squealed with laughter and bounced a quarter directly into one of the shot glasses. Al the guys cheered. ââ¬Å"Now what?â⬠she said breathlessly, her eyes bright. ââ¬Å"Now you choose someone to drink it,â⬠the guy who had brought the drinks said. ââ¬Å"Zander, of course,â⬠Bonnie said, and Zander gave her a long, slow smile that even Elena had to admit was devastating and drank, then winked at her as she laughed again.
